Situated in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, one mile from Betws-y-Coed in North Wales, Pengwern built of Welsh stone and slate, stands on the edge of 2 acres of wild woods and overlooks the magnificent Lledr Valley, one of the beautiful valleys of Wales. It was once the former home of Victorian artists.

Today this charming Country House offers quality bed and breakfast accommodation, with a relaxed atmosphere.

The television lounge, and breakfast room, both with wood burning stoves, provide warmth and comfort for our guests. The lounge is a relaxing area to enjoy a complimentary welcome home made cake and refreshments.

Beautifully furnished beamed bedrooms have been named after artist who resided at the house during the mid to late 1800’s.

George Wightwick - Twin(3') or configured as a link Super-king Double(6'), bath en-suite with valley views.

Maggie Plas - King-size Double(5') four-poster, bath en-suite with garden views.

All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, radio, alarm clock, and hairdryer. Ironing facilities are available on request.


Throughout the area (as in our house) you will hear the Welsh language spoken, and during the summer, Welsh choirs are at hand to entertain. The area is steeped in history and culture with many of the finest castles and fortresses within easy reach.

For those looking for quality self-catering accommodation, a wing of the owners country house has been converted to a delightful self-catering cottage with its wood burning stove.The Studio (4-Star) accommodates two people and is non-smoking. It is considered to be a ‘little haven, ideal for couples’. Please contact us for further details.
