Tan Dinas Country House

A hidden gem of peace and tranquility

Betws y Coed village is just a short walk from this handsome Victorian Country House which dates back to the late 1800's and is set in 3 acres of private woodland - all of which stands within the magnificent Gwydyr Forest. Tan Dinas has unparalled panoramic views over the beautiful valley of the Afon Llugwy - the serenity and peace interrupted only by birdsong and the nearby babbling brook. An unusual feature of the area is the large, level car park situated within the grounds. Featuring all modern facilities yet retaining the grace of a classical Victorian residence - Tan Dinas has been welcoming guests for nearly 100 years.

Tan Dinas offers a choice of 5 ensuite bedrooms to suit your taste and requirements, one of which is on the ground floor. Every room has a wonderful view of either the valley, the gardens or the woodland with the Western Red Cedar, one of the tallest in the forest and the Oak in the Rock, one of the oldest. All rooms are ensuite, have a generous hospitality tray, fridge, satellite tv, dvd, radio alarm, hairdryer, double glazing and central heating. There is a reading room with breathtaking views and a good selection of reading material. Free Wi Fi broadband internet access is also provided.

Tan Dinas is about much more than just the rooms, Eileen and John, the proprietors, pride themselves on their customer service which is of the highest standard and offer home from home hospitality in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. A Visitors Book open to inspection, bears testament not only to this but to the delicious breakfast, cooked to order, by John. Eileen takes pleasure in helping guests plan their itinerary and a good stock of maps and literature are available. Guests may even be lucky enough to sample a cake or too on baking day !

Walking, climbing, mountain biking, horse riding, bird watching, canoeing, fishing, golfing or learning a new skill such as flying a plane or abseiling are all on offer locally. For those not looking for an adrenaline rush, the scenery is second to none - forest walks start on the doorstep with a chance to see fallow deer. Castles, beaches, historic houses, slate and copper mines, narrow gauge railways, lakes and rivers are all waiting to meet you. For those who just want to unwind and chill out - Tan Dinas offers you peace, tranquility and a seat with a view !

Betws y Coed with its splendid choice of restaurants, bistros and cafes provides a dining experience for all tastes and is only 500 yards away. The shops offer a range of quality gifts, clothes, art and pottery and an excellent range of outdoor wear and equipment can be found in several well known shops.
